Climbing
Take part in a climbing activity whilst on school camp in Hanmer Springs. Have an Adrenalin rush getting to the top of the tree or rock climbs. Challenge yourself to have a go. Develop your self-confidence, learn to rely on others and work well in a team.
Tree Climbing at the Forest Camp
We have created 4 great new climbs in a huge Pine and a monstrous Gum Tree. Use the natural branches and extra climbing holds and have a go at climbing the trees!
This session is run just like a Rock Climbing session using all the specialist equipment and techniques. The entire group gets involved with the safety procedures such as belaying. Just watch out when the wind blows- the trees sway!!
The attraction of the Tree Climbing is that it needs no transport if you are staying at the Forest Camp. All climbing sessions normally last between 2 and 2.5 hours.
Rock Climbing at Goat Rock
Yes real rock!! Students have the opportunity to climb on solid rock. Goat Rock is located down Jacks Pass Road about 10 minutes walk from AA Camp or 10 minutes drive from Forest Camp. It is an ideal introductory rock with 2 easy climbs on it. Activity Hanmer have exclusive use of it .
Tree Towers at the Forest Camp
Can the students build a tower at least 20 high out of milk crates and stand on it!? This is a great activity for younger children to do before they launch themselves at the Tree Climbing or for any age group to do as a team building activity. It is normally used as part of a Tree Climbing session and not as an activity in its own right.
