Activity Hanmer win Weedbusters Education Award
Hanmer Weedbusters has just won the Education category of the Canterbury Regional Weedbusters Awards. They came very close to being the overall winner. The judges were very impressed with the group's work and the thought put into the schools' conservation activity, integrating it with the rest of the activities.

Rangiora High School Mt Bike Course
Last week 23 students from Rangiora High School took part in a timed race on the Hanmer 12 hour bike race route to set against achievement standards. A great effort, well done to all of them.

School Mountain Bike Events
Represent your school in the Hanmer Springs Mountain Bike Events and take on the challenge. Activity Hanmer in conjunction with Hanmer Events have sponsored new categories in the 4 hour MTB Race in April and the Duathlon in October. Special categories for School pupils and school teams.

Hanmer Thermal Pools Staff take on the Mission Impossible Challenge
Used to the early morning starts the Hanmer Thermal Pools staff took part in Mission Impossible at 7.00am on Monday. Split into 3 teams with a mixture of lifeguards, cash , management and operations staff the competition was fierce. A great way to get to know each other better and improve teamwork !

Rangiora United Netball Team take up the Forest Challenge
Ladies of the Rangiora United netball teams stayed in Hanmer for their end of season breakup and took part in the Forest Challenge.
The resounding comment was "Great Fun!".

Rangi Ruru School Leadership Camp October 2009
The Rangi Ruru annual leadership camp has just finished and was blessed with beautiful weather. The camp was an amazing sucess and we were blow away by the enthusiasm and energy of the girls.
A special mention of thanks to the girls for the conservation work at Squirrel Lake where a huge area of broom was cleared from the wetlands and forest.

Visiting schools are being asked to take part in some Weedbusting as part of their outdoor programs whilst on school camp in Hanmer.
