Overnight Camp

Put your bush skills into practice and spend a night out in the bush. Join an Activity Hanmer overnight camp and have a night under the stars in the mountains near Hanmer Springs.

Activity Hanmer is very lucky to be able to use a wonderful campsite "over the back of Mt Isobel".

There are no facilities and it is in the Bush!! Students love it. Although the campsite is on the other side of Jacks Pass it is only 20 minutes walk from a vehicle. Ideally the students would do a Tramp up the Chatterton Valley to get to the campsite which takes about 2/3 hours.

Meanwhile a vehicle is taken over with all the heavy kit in like tents and food and that vehicle stays over night as an emergency vehicle. Alternatively you can drive the students in and just do it as an evening activity. We provide all the tents and stoves and we can provide all the food.

Students need to provide their own sleeping bag. We can have the students back ready to start activities at 9am the following day so it does not impinge too much on the rest of your program.
