WeedBusters

Take part in this conservation activity organised by Activity Hanmer and put something back into the Hanmer Springs environment.

Weedbusters is school run conservation based activity where Activity Hanmer arranges a facilitator to meet school groups at a venue in our local forest. All tools and briefings are provided on-site ready for you to give up a couple hours of your time to bust some weeds. We are currently focusing on Wilding Pines and Broom, keeping mountain bike and walking tracks clear for all to enjoy.

Everybody wins and there is no charge for this activity as long as you are doing three other activities with us. This will give you a real balanced program and let the students put back into the environment. These sessions are proving really successful.

We have set up a local Weedbusters Group with help and funding from DOC, it has been running since 2010. In 2011 our Weedbusters Group was given more funding to help keep our programme running and our committed locals, who will act as volunteer facilitators, happy.

Our Weedbusting programme won the Environment Leadership Award in 2011.
